Outdoor Learning

At East Meon CE Primary School we are very fortunate to have extensive grounds, including a large field, playground with marking chosen by the children, sensory garden, pond area, willow tunnel and gardens for each class.

We aim to make the most of the space that we have by learning outside when we can. Activities include: pond dipping in science, monitoring the birds that visit our grounds, collecting natural resources to make a colour chart in art, drawing the Iron Man in chalk using the text to help with features, measuring the area of our adventure playground, being human compasses to draw circles, making instruments out of natural resources, creating pictures with resources that we can find, practising our number and letter formation as well as weekly PE sessions.

The children in Discoverers Class also enjoy a residential visit each year, where the children enjoy activities such as abseiling, archery, caving , zip slides and blind trails.
