Adventurers

Welcome to Willow Class!

Our teachers are Miss Lambton and Mrs Griffiths.

We are a hard working class of Year 1's and Year 2's.

Willow Class rules:

Willow class came up with rules that they must follow while at school. These are:

- Always use our kind hands

- Look after each other

- Look after our school resources

- Always try our best

- To know its OK to make mistakes! We learn from these.

Outdoor maths learning!

We completed our maths revision outside. We had to hunt for the correct question to go with the answer we had been given.

Paws and Claws

Our topic this half term is all about animals and their habitats. We are currently reading the story of 'The Enormous Crocodile' and will be carrying out different activities, within the curriculum, linked to this book.

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Reptylers. They brought in a variety of different reptiles and other animals for us to learn about and handle! Please see the photos below.

Meet our chicks!

We had a visit from Anna who works and studies whales and dolphins. Anna shared lots of interesting facts about different whales and dolphins and even showed us different models of skulls which we were allowed to handle. We then had the chance to measure different whales and dolphins and could compare these to one another! Thank you for visiting us!

World Book Day!

Willow class were lucky enough to get a visit from a Paleontologist. He brought his special equipment with him and also showed us the fossils he had found. We had a go at using the equipment to free the dinosaurs!

Our trip to the Natural History Museum in London

We had a brilliant day out at the Natural History Museum, exploring the life of dinosaurs. We were able to observe fossils, the bone structures of different dinosaurs by looking at their skeletons and understanding just how big the dinosaurs really were!

Romp and Stomp!

We are really enjoying our topic on Dinosaurs. So far, we have written fact files on our chosen dinosaur, learnt about the continents each dinosaur came from and have carried out an experiment within our science lesson, focusing on working scientifically.

In a few weeks time, we are off to the Natural History Museum in London to broaden our knowledge on Dinosaurs - Please keep checking our page to have a look at the photos.

Here are a few pictures of the children working outside and quizzing each other on the different continents around the world that they have drawn.

Stormy Weather

This half term, we are learning about different types of weather and where these weather types happen around the world.

We have been reading lots of 'Percy the Park Keeper' books and identifying the different weathers within these books and helping Percy design a new machine to help him clear up his park after the storm!

We are also learning about Captain Scott and the adventures he went on across Antarctica and the different weathers he also had to face. We have a few exciting things planned for this half term to link with our Captain Scott learning!

Harry the hedgehog came into Willow Class to teach us about hedgehogs and how we can help them at this time of year.

After half term, we will be learning about The Great Fire of London and how to keep safe when there is a fire. To get us ready for our new topic, we had a visit from Winchester's Fire and Rescue centre. They spoke to us about how to keep safe in our homes and when we are out and what to do if we see a fire.

Willow Class had an amazing time at Rock Up. Everyone managed to climb up the walls and all children were cheering each other on.
