Waste and Recylcing
Garden Waste
This year we have created three wooden compost bins made from recycled materials. Gardening club use the compost area to deposit any garden waste. Having a larger compost area has speeded up the compost process. The resulting compost is used on the flower and vegetable beds by children in gardening club and for class flower beds.
Food Waste and Hotbin
Fran and Olivia, our Eco Warriors are responsible for collecting food waste each day. Fruit is chopped up so it can then be placed in the hotbin and waste from the kitchen is fed to the worms in the wormery. This results in liquid fertilizer which is used on the vegetable beds and sold at Open Gardens.
